Crazy hectic. At the basketball banquet, my oldest daughter won a bball scholarship! I’m so proud of how hard she works. The coach shared an inspiring story of how, in my daughter’s sophomore year, the coach told my daughter she would be cut from the team in her junior year. My daughter buckled down and actually got pushed to varsity her junior year. Real fighting spirit. Meanwhile, I fought with a broken ice-maker, car repairs, and missing pieces to a bed we bought used from FB. 😭 I sent Secrets of Deara off for another round of structural editing. Honestly, between the new job, preparing for our family vacation, continuing with book marketing, and working on Secrets, I was burning out. Getting the book out of my hands for a little while was a healthy move. That reminds me, I would like someone with a nautical background to make sure I didn't do anything stupid in this story. (I continue to get complaints about the saluting in Guardian of The Palace--lesson learned). Anyone on this list fit the bill? Ideas where I should look? I doubt I'll find a FB group of nautical fantasy readers, but maybe... I haven't looked yet. Cover for Book 3 is done, except the blurb for the paperback/hardback--haven't written it yet. Let me know what you think of the cover. Pretty sure I've settled on a title for Book 4: Shepherds of Truth. It's probably not hard for you to guess where they're headed from the title. The conclusion of this series will be wicked hard to write, for a lot of reasons. Guess I can't discuss that. All books by Steven J. Morris Indie Author ShowcasePrevious Newsletters

Hi! If you enjoy fantasy with snarky humor, I've got some books for you. My newsletter takes you along the creative journey, and keeps you informed of what's brewing.
After the discussion in the library, I thought I would write up some of the things we discussed and provide you all links. To quickly reset context: I do indie publishing (self-publishing) not trad. Never tried trad. I have a day job, which means (1) I have money to invest in writing and (2) I have little time for writing/marketing Advertising For advertising, I historically used (1) Amazon, (2) Facebook/Instagram (FB/IG), and (3) Bookbub. To start with some helpful guidance. I have used...
The Dripping Springs Community Library invited me to be featured in their Author Spotlight. Date: Wednesday, Feb. 11thTime: 5:45-6:45 PMWebsiteInstagramFacebook Okay, admittedly, it was because they had a sudden cancellation, and they were clearly desperate, but I'll take it! I know most of you are not local to Austin, but a few are, so I wanted to send this out. I thought I might talk about what I included in my last email: learnings about marketing from being hacked and losing FB Ads. At...
Kids are back at school and I’m back at work. Had to cancel a vacation to Venezuela. Then I took that money and almost bought Greenland, but the price jumped up. Weird, right? Maybe I’ll head to Iran. Busy month. My last email was a pretty dismal writing update: FB account hacked, no story progress. This newsletter gets to smack that one around a bit. 🥊 FB Hack Update No, I don’t have my Facebook account back. But I learned something genuinely valuable when my ads shut down—something I...
